The client’s dated kitchen was no longer meeting their evolving needs. They desired an open floor plan that maximized the vaulted ceilings in the existing living room and generous natural light. The original kitchen boasted limited sight lines between rooms while the dark cherry cabinets mounted to an overhead soffit further heightened the homeowners desire for spaciousness. Extending the kitchen footprint into the breakfast nook, widening the opening into the dining room, and creating a new passageway into the living room established the modern, entertainment-ready lifestyle the client desired. Removing the original 12x12” cream tiles with black grout and matching the new flooring to the existing hardwood floors allowed these spaces to be unified. Relocating the deck access into the dining room with French doors further enhanced the generous light and improved the clients flow between indoor and outdoor living. White perimeter cabinetry, with a dark espresso island to complement the existing wood trim, topped with a subtle granite-like-patterned quartz counter, and a 4×12” white subway tile provided the light, bright, and open aesthetic that appealed to the client. This design boasts champagne bronze hardware and a modern-geometric-gold toned feature light over the island provided the casual elegance the client wanted. The final element was including a full Jenn-Air appliance package, making this sophisticated entertaining kitchen fit for even the most accomplished chef.
